CPI State Secretary takes charge of young leadership

Comrade Gujju La Eswaraiah elected as Andhra Pradesh CPI State Secretary

A Report From Kerala CPI Unit 21st October 2025: (Kerala Screen Desk)

From a student leader...a poor child who rose to the level of Communist Party State Secretary:

A new era has begun in the Andhra Pradesh State CPI Party. It has welcomed the young leadership in line with the current political, modernization and changing times of the country. It has taken very quick steps in implementing the decisions taken on the leadership change after the national meetings. The state party, which had already postponed the council meeting due to the confusion over the leadership change, finally announced the new leadership in the Rashtra Samithi meeting held today. G. Eswaraiah is the sixth child of Gujjula Balamma and Obanna couple in Bhadram Palle, Thondur Mandal, Kadapa District. Being from a very poor family, he experienced the pain of hunger firsthand. He had to work as a laborer during his schooling. He stayed in an orphanage (Bala Sadan) and studied there while eating. After completing primary school, he had to come to Patnam (Kadapa) for higher education. From there, new doors opened in his life. He joined AISF during his seventh grade days. His hands that had kneaded the soil raised the AISF flag to his shoulders. After tenth grade, he studied at Kadapa Arts College and obtained a BA group degree. Without neglecting the motto of "Fight", he studied on one hand and on the other hand, he fought for the problems of the students in his college. He started tireless struggles for student scholarships. Eswaraiah garu's fighting role was instrumental in getting scholarships for many students who did not get scholarships. Recognizing that fighting spirit, the Communist Party selected him as the AISF District Secretary of Kadapa District. Immediately after completing his degree, he did his MA at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) for post-graduation education. It can be said that Eswaraiah's role in leading the student movement at SV University was very important. While continuing his education, he led the student movements with ease.

He gave life to student and youth organizations

He worked as the State Secretary of the All India Students' Federation (AISF) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) in the united Andhra Pradesh (Telangana). He intensified the student movement in the then 26 districts with Hyderabad as the center. He led a fierce movement against the then Congress Chief Minister Nedurumalle Janardhan Reddy government, which did not allow candidates who had completed B.Com in their degree to pursue B.Ed., and got the JVO cancelled. After that, he also worked actively in the youth wing. He also wrote a newspaper article questioning the then Congress government's attitude of giving permission to engineering colleges indiscriminately and corrupting engineering education. He worked tirelessly for the success of the cycle yatra undertaken by the Youth Federation on the many problems faced by the unemployed and youth. As a result, the concluding meeting of the cycle yatra held in Hyderabad ended in a great success. In this way, he single-handedly led the student and youth federations.

In a very short time, he rose to become a Communist Party leader...

After his student and youth responsibilities, he took charge as the Kadapa CPI District Secretary. Within a very short time after taking charge, he rebuilt the Communist Party in all the mandals of the district. He fought tirelessly for the old RIMS Hospital and was successful in making the hospital services available to the people. The credit of bringing the Kadapa Steel Plant movement to the fore goes to Gujjala Eswaraiah as the District Secretary of the CPI Party alone. Similarly, he demanded that house plots be allotted to the poor, planted flags on assigned lands, and questioned the revenue machinery. As a result, he spent about ten to fifteen days in jail. There is no doubt that he made the party office his residence and was always available to the workers and the poor. After serving as the Kadapa District Secretary for three terms, the party moved to Vijayawada for the needs of the state movement. Invited. With Vijayawada as his headquarters, he traveled all over the state as a member of the state secretary's group without rest. No matter which district he was assigned as in-charge, he worked continuously to properly discharge the responsibility he had taken. It can be said that his passion for the party and the work he did for party building made him sit on the throne of the state!!

From a child laborer.. to the level of state secretary of the Communist Party

Born in a poor family in a remote village in Kadapa district, facing many hardships in his childhood, earning his living by doing odd jobs, studying in orphanages, and experiencing poverty from close quarters, Eswariah garu is a source of pride for today's youth, CPI state workers, and the poor people of the state... His life of activism is an ideal for the youth.!! Let us hope that he will stand by the side of the poor and the weak and be ready for tireless struggles on the public issues of the state... For that, let us once again convey "revolutionary congratulations" to him!!

When the workers got the right to eight-hour daily wage after the struggles and sacrifices of Chicago,

then machines were very few. There were no computers at all. Factories and factories were running only with the hard work of the workers. The labor of these workers used to fill the coffers of the capitalists and capitalists.

After a long period of development, when the technology of machines and computers came, the workers were told that their working hours would also decrease and their salaries would also increase. After all, their hearts also want to get rid of work and immediately sit with their families and enjoy their happiness.

But after the country gained independence and technology increased, the human rights that would make these dreams come true were still in the middle of being realized, when the inhumane behavior of considering the flesh-and-bone bodies of these workers as machines started to be used. Strict action was taken against those who worked more than 12 hours. Holidays started being cut. In many places, even the May Day holiday started being objected to.

Labor organizations were still expressing their displeasure against these excesses, when now the draft of the New Labor Policy-2025 was also announced. We will also discuss what this draft is in a separate post. Currently, you can read the news of this new Labor Power 2025 in our partner publication Hindustan Screen in Hindi language and regularly in English language as well. As soon as this new Labor Policy-2025 was announced, the oldest and largest organization of the working class, AITC, has rejected the draft of this policy from the beginning. AITC has rejected it in very balanced but strong words.

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has completely rejected the draft Labor Policy “Labor Power Policy 2025” issued from New Delhi. This policy has come out as a unilateral imposition of bullying by the BJP government, which is a clear violation of the established tripartite process. This serious and undemocratic step is a setback for the workers and trade unions.

AITUC has demanded that the Ministry of Labour and Employment immediately withdraw the draft and hold consultations with the central trade unions before any referendum.

This Manpower Policy means — a comprehensive strategy by the government to regulate workplaces and manage the employment structure of the country, which guarantees the rights and protection of workers. Consultation with trade unions before formulating such a policy has been a standard and mandatory practice in India. This process alone makes any policy valid and effective. Consultation with trade unions is not an option, but the foundation of a successful labour policy.

AITUC has condemned the authoritarian approach of the Ministry of Labour and Employment in issuing the draft without mandatory consultation with trade unions.

The National Labour Policy sets the strategy for the workforce of any government. This should include employment security, new job creation, social security (including maternity benefits), working hours, safety, skill development, etc. But the current draft policy does not meet these criteria and its credibility is in serious doubt. In the context of the BJP’s pro-corporate and anti-worker policies, this draft seems to be just an attempt to justify its anti-worker bias.

A brief study of this draft makes it clear that it is only to fulfill the labour codes that were strongly opposed by the central trade unions. It does not contain any concrete policy on employment security, new job creation and mandatory provisions or arrangements for minimum wages as per the Minimum Wages Act. In the absence of a policy on artificial intelligence and just transition and against the backdrop of an incomplete, questionable data system, the claims made in this draft are mere eye candy.

AITUC has strongly challenged the false claim of universal social security propagated by the Labour Ministry. Welfare schemes are not social security. Every worker — be he/she in the unorganised sector, daily wage earner, gig, contractor, agricultural, domestic or home-based worker — should get minimum wage and social security as a legal right and its implementation should be strictly monitored. No policy less than this should be accepted.

AITUC once again rejects the draft "Shram Shakti Niti 2025” and demands the Ministry to withdraw it immediately and initiate dialogue with the central trade unions, for which the Indian Labour Conference should be convened at the earliest.

This statement was issued by Comrade Amarjit Kaur, a bold and very responsible leader of AITC who is also the General Secretary of AITC (All India Trade Union Congress).

CPI 25th Congress Addresses National and Global Challenges

Received From GSK on 23rd September 2025 at 20:42 Regarding CPI 25th National Congress

Meet demands white paper on flood relief measures and disaster management

Chandigarh: 23rd September 2025: (The Comrade Screen Desk)::

On the second day of the 25th Congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI), delegates deliberated on the pressing challenges confronting Punjab, the nation, and the wider world.

CPI General Secretary Comrade D. Raja stated that India today faces serious threats to democracy, secularism, social justice, and other fundamental values. Against this backdrop, the 25th Congress is engaging in discussions with political clarity and firm conviction, passing resolutions that reflect the party’s century-long legacy while charting a bold and decisive direction.

Senior leaders including Amarjeet Kaur (National Secretary), former MP Nagendra Nath Ojha, P.M. Murthy, Comrade Hardev Singh Arshi, Mohammad Salim, Devi Kumari Sarhali Kalan, and Comrade Danesh, along with state-level office bearers, presided over the sessions. Delegates debated resolutions in depth, adopting several significant ones.

One resolution criticized both the Central and Punjab governments for negligence in maintaining irrigation and drainage systems, which aggravated the recent floods in Punjab. The delegates in the party  unanimously condemned the Centre’s relief package of ₹1,600 crore as an insult to the people, noting that actual losses exceed ₹25,000 crore. The CPI demanded an expanded package to be released immediately, with at least ₹1 lakh in direct relief to every affected family, including landless labourers and small traders, not just farmers. The party also called for a White Paper on flood relief and funds allocation.

Another resolution dismissed government claims of GST reforms as hollow, arguing that BJP’s economic policies have worsened inequality, burdening the middle and lower-income classes while benefiting corporates and favoured tycoons. The Congress also demanded that Puducherry be included in the 16th Finance Commission.

A resolution on Palestine accused the United States of backing Israeli genocide in Gaza, and urged the Government of India to vote consistently in support of Palestine at the United Nations and to extend human assistance to Palestinians.

On public health, the Congress noted that central health spending remains below 2% of GDP. It demanded recognition of healthcare as a fundamental right, an increase in health expenditure to 3% of GDP by 2027 and 10% by 2030, and universal free healthcare for all citizens. Referring to NITI Aayog’s own data, the party noted that nearly 100 million Indians are pushed into severe financial distress annually due to medical costs.

In solidarity with Cuba, the CPI condemned the six-decade-long US economic blockade and appealed to democratic forces worldwide to unite against American imperialism.

During political discussions, the Congress strongly criticised the BJP’s fascist agenda, calling for unity among Left and democratic forces. The party pledged to continue defending the rights of farmers, workers, labourers, employees, and the toiling masses.

The evening featured cultural performances, including plays and songs staged by Manch Rang Manch Amritsar under the direction of National Sangeet Akademi Award winner Kewal Dhaliwal, such as Haddiyan-Sauniyan, Bhagat Singh da Muqadma, and revolutionary songs like Kaho Comrade, Lal Salaam. Folk artists from Chhattisgarh and troupes from other states also performed, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the Congress proceedings.

CPI MP demands special relief package for flood-hit Punjab

Received from MS Bhatia on Monday 8th September 2025 at 16:42 Regarding CPI MP

CPI leader Santosh Kumar P. writes to Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah

*CPI leader in Rajya Sabha is Santosh Kumar P.

*Demand raised for special relief package for flood-hit Punjab

*CPI leader in Rajya Sabha demands special package

*Demand made for special relief package for flood-hit Punjab

*He personally visited the villages

Ludhiana: 8th September 2025:(MS Bhatia//Comrade Screen Desk)::

During his visit to the flood-hit villages of Punjab's Fazilka district, CPI leader in Rajya Sabha Comrade Santosh Kumar P has personally visited the villages and witnessed the devastation caused by the unprecedented floods. After this sensitive period, he has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a package for the flood-affected areas in Punjab.

He said, "Entire fields have been submerged, crops have been damaged, livestock have died, and houses have been reduced to rubble. Families are stranded in flooded areas, their livelihoods have been destroyed, and with water standing everywhere, the threat of diseases is looming. What impressed me the most was the despair in the eyes of the farmers who have lost everything and the helplessness of the families seeking shelter and sustenance. The farmers are thriving even in this extremely sensitive situation. They are supporting each other.

During his visit, CPI MP Santosh also interacted with countless volunteers who had reached out to help the affected. SDRF, NDRF, Indian Army, and other agencies are working tirelessly in very difficult conditions, including people's organizations including the Communist Party of India. Their courage and solidarity in saving lives and delivering food and medicines to the affected villages is commendable. deserves more than praise.

Yet, despite such efforts, the devastation of this disaster is actually far beyond the government's scale of relief. This relief is very meager. Villages in Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Mansa and Patiala are completely submerged. Inundated or badly damaged. Along with this, lakhs of people are suffering from hunger, disease and displacement. Their suffering is almost impossible to count.

He further wrote that in these circumstances, I appeal to the Central Government to act immediately and compassionately. Punjab needs to release substantial relief funds immediately in addition to the regular distribution, along with a comprehensive package that covers the full extent of crop and livestock loss, destruction of homes and livelihoods, and rehabilitation of displaced families. It is very important that the next Special arrangements should be made for the cropping season by ensuring supply of seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs at subsidized rates. Strengthening health services to prevent epidemics, restoration of schools and public facilities, and timely reconstruction of the social and economic fabric torn apart by these floods are equally important. The CPI state unit member also encouraged the people.

At the end of his letter, he wrote that I request your personal intervention so that relief and rehabilitation reach the people of Punjab without any delay. The resilience of the people is strong, and the spirit of unity among the volunteers is inspiring, but what is urgently needed now is decisive support from the Central Government.

Only after the necessary relief package can the flood-affected families begin the difficult journey of rebuilding their lives with dignity.

CPI Welcomes Progress in Cooperation Between India and China

CPI Roy Kutti Monday 1st September 2025 at 1:00 PM//CPI MSB-- 1st  September 2025 at 7:39 PM

New Delhi: 1st September 2025: (M S Bhatia//The Comrade Screen)::

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued today (September 1, 2025) the following statement:

The Communist Party of India welcomes the positive outcome of the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping of China.  The engagement between the leaders of India and China — two of the most ancient civilizations of the world — reaffirms that our countries are destined to be partners, not rivals.

The dialogue signals a commitment to move towards better understanding at all levels — political, economic, cultural and people-to-people. Such cooperation is of great importance not only to our two nations, but also to the strengthening of the unity of the Global South and to the advancement of multipolarity in international relations.

The CPI notes with satisfaction that both sides have demonstrated political will to address and resolve the long-standing border issues, a legacy of colonial powers, through peaceful and negotiated means. The path of dialogue and mutual respect will contribute to building lasting peace, stability and development in our region.

At a time when imperialist forces seek to divide and dominate, the unity and cooperation of India and China will provide a powerful impetus to an alternative world order based on equality, justice and mutual respect among nations. The CPI calls upon all sections of the people to support this positive momentum in India-China relations.
