Comrade Gujju La Eswaraiah elected as Andhra Pradesh CPI State Secretary
A Report From Kerala CPI Unit 21st October 2025: (Kerala Screen Desk)
From a student leader...a poor child who rose to the level of Communist Party State Secretary:
A new era has begun in the Andhra Pradesh State CPI Party. It has welcomed the young leadership in line with the current political, modernization and changing times of the country. It has taken very quick steps in implementing the decisions taken on the leadership change after the national meetings. The state party, which had already postponed the council meeting due to the confusion over the leadership change, finally announced the new leadership in the Rashtra Samithi meeting held today. G. Eswaraiah is the sixth child of Gujjula Balamma and Obanna couple in Bhadram Palle, Thondur Mandal, Kadapa District. Being from a very poor family, he experienced the pain of hunger firsthand. He had to work as a laborer during his schooling. He stayed in an orphanage (Bala Sadan) and studied there while eating. After completing primary school, he had to come to Patnam (Kadapa) for higher education. From there, new doors opened in his life. He joined AISF during his seventh grade days. His hands that had kneaded the soil raised the AISF flag to his shoulders. After tenth grade, he studied at Kadapa Arts College and obtained a BA group degree. Without neglecting the motto of "Fight", he studied on one hand and on the other hand, he fought for the problems of the students in his college. He started tireless struggles for student scholarships. Eswaraiah garu's fighting role was instrumental in getting scholarships for many students who did not get scholarships. Recognizing that fighting spirit, the Communist Party selected him as the AISF District Secretary of Kadapa District. Immediately after completing his degree, he did his MA at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) for post-graduation education. It can be said that Eswaraiah's role in leading the student movement at SV University was very important. While continuing his education, he led the student movements with ease.
He gave life to student and youth organizations
He worked as the State Secretary of the All India Students' Federation (AISF) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) in the united Andhra Pradesh (Telangana). He intensified the student movement in the then 26 districts with Hyderabad as the center. He led a fierce movement against the then Congress Chief Minister Nedurumalle Janardhan Reddy government, which did not allow candidates who had completed B.Com in their degree to pursue B.Ed., and got the JVO cancelled. After that, he also worked actively in the youth wing. He also wrote a newspaper article questioning the then Congress government's attitude of giving permission to engineering colleges indiscriminately and corrupting engineering education. He worked tirelessly for the success of the cycle yatra undertaken by the Youth Federation on the many problems faced by the unemployed and youth. As a result, the concluding meeting of the cycle yatra held in Hyderabad ended in a great success. In this way, he single-handedly led the student and youth federations.
In a very short time, he rose to become a Communist Party leader...
After his student and youth responsibilities, he took charge as the Kadapa CPI District Secretary. Within a very short time after taking charge, he rebuilt the Communist Party in all the mandals of the district. He fought tirelessly for the old RIMS Hospital and was successful in making the hospital services available to the people. The credit of bringing the Kadapa Steel Plant movement to the fore goes to Gujjala Eswaraiah as the District Secretary of the CPI Party alone. Similarly, he demanded that house plots be allotted to the poor, planted flags on assigned lands, and questioned the revenue machinery. As a result, he spent about ten to fifteen days in jail. There is no doubt that he made the party office his residence and was always available to the workers and the poor. After serving as the Kadapa District Secretary for three terms, the party moved to Vijayawada for the needs of the state movement. Invited. With Vijayawada as his headquarters, he traveled all over the state as a member of the state secretary's group without rest. No matter which district he was assigned as in-charge, he worked continuously to properly discharge the responsibility he had taken. It can be said that his passion for the party and the work he did for party building made him sit on the throne of the state!!
From a child laborer.. to the level of state secretary of the Communist Party
Born in a poor family in a remote village in Kadapa district, facing many hardships in his childhood, earning his living by doing odd jobs, studying in orphanages, and experiencing poverty from close quarters, Eswariah garu is a source of pride for today's youth, CPI state workers, and the poor people of the state... His life of activism is an ideal for the youth.!! Let us hope that he will stand by the side of the poor and the weak and be ready for tireless struggles on the public issues of the state... For that, let us once again convey "revolutionary congratulations" to him!!
