*Demand made for special relief package for flood-hit Punjab

*He personally visited the villages

Ludhiana: 8th September 2025:(MS Bhatia//Comrade Screen Desk)::

During his visit to the flood-hit villages of Punjab's Fazilka district, CPI leader in Rajya Sabha Comrade Santosh Kumar P has personally visited the villages and witnessed the devastation caused by the unprecedented floods. After this sensitive period, he has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a package for the flood-affected areas in Punjab.

He said, "Entire fields have been submerged, crops have been damaged, livestock have died, and houses have been reduced to rubble. Families are stranded in flooded areas, their livelihoods have been destroyed, and with water standing everywhere, the threat of diseases is looming. What impressed me the most was the despair in the eyes of the farmers who have lost everything and the helplessness of the families seeking shelter and sustenance. The farmers are thriving even in this extremely sensitive situation. They are supporting each other.

During his visit, CPI MP Santosh also interacted with countless volunteers who had reached out to help the affected. SDRF, NDRF, Indian Army, and other agencies are working tirelessly in very difficult conditions, including people's organizations including the Communist Party of India. Their courage and solidarity in saving lives and delivering food and medicines to the affected villages is commendable. deserves more than praise.

Yet, despite such efforts, the devastation of this disaster is actually far beyond the government's scale of relief. This relief is very meager. Villages in Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Mansa and Patiala are completely submerged. Inundated or badly damaged. Along with this, lakhs of people are suffering from hunger, disease and displacement. Their suffering is almost impossible to count.

He further wrote that in these circumstances, I appeal to the Central Government to act immediately and compassionately. Punjab needs to release substantial relief funds immediately in addition to the regular distribution, along with a comprehensive package that covers the full extent of crop and livestock loss, destruction of homes and livelihoods, and rehabilitation of displaced families. It is very important that the next Special arrangements should be made for the cropping season by ensuring supply of seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs at subsidized rates. Strengthening health services to prevent epidemics, restoration of schools and public facilities, and timely reconstruction of the social and economic fabric torn apart by these floods are equally important. The CPI state unit member also encouraged the people.

At the end of his letter, he wrote that I request your personal intervention so that relief and rehabilitation reach the people of Punjab without any delay. The resilience of the people is strong, and the spirit of unity among the volunteers is inspiring, but what is urgently needed now is decisive support from the Central Government.

Only after the necessary relief package can the flood-affected families begin the difficult journey of rebuilding their lives with dignity.

CPI Welcomes Progress in Cooperation Between India and China

CPI Roy Kutti Monday 1st September 2025 at 1:00 PM//CPI MSB-- 1st  September 2025 at 7:39 PM

New Delhi: 1st September 2025: (M S Bhatia//The Comrade Screen)::

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued today (September 1, 2025) the following statement:

The Communist Party of India welcomes the positive outcome of the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping of China.  The engagement between the leaders of India and China — two of the most ancient civilizations of the world — reaffirms that our countries are destined to be partners, not rivals.

The dialogue signals a commitment to move towards better understanding at all levels — political, economic, cultural and people-to-people. Such cooperation is of great importance not only to our two nations, but also to the strengthening of the unity of the Global South and to the advancement of multipolarity in international relations.

The CPI notes with satisfaction that both sides have demonstrated political will to address and resolve the long-standing border issues, a legacy of colonial powers, through peaceful and negotiated means. The path of dialogue and mutual respect will contribute to building lasting peace, stability and development in our region.

At a time when imperialist forces seek to divide and dominate, the unity and cooperation of India and China will provide a powerful impetus to an alternative world order based on equality, justice and mutual respect among nations. The CPI calls upon all sections of the people to support this positive momentum in India-China relations.
